For the 2020-2021 academic year, our school continued to support and participate in the annual ‘Pass-it-On Campaign 2020’ fundraising campaign organised by the Hong Kong Red Cross. In view of the pandemic this year, the Hong Kong Red Cross used the power of the internet to encourage children to make a short video inviting friends and family to support the charity sale. Through the online activities, we encouraged everyone to show their love during the pandemic. A total of 66 children from our school participated and raised a total of HKD $30,000. All volunteers were rewarded with the ‘Certificate of Recognition’, some also have the ‘Outstanding Volunteer Award’. To thank the school for its enthusiastic support, the Hong Kong Red Cross also awarded the ‘Most Active Participation Award’ and the ‘Outstanding Volunteer team Award’ to the school.
This campaign not only encourages children to be helpful, generous and instill good values, it also strengthens children’s connection with the community. After participating in the volunteer work, an extension activity provided a platform for children and parent volunteers to share their feelings and experiences through photos and drawings with a description. This activity helped to enhance student’s self-confidence, communication skills and language ability.
